I found some very interesting stats about RSS today in this article entitled ยป RSS users are 78% male, 48% Internet users, but 83% are not aware they are using RSS.. If you are in to statistics (and who’s not!) give it a look.

I heard another interesting statistic on Twit episode 23. In a conversation one of the panelist made the comment that “99% of blogs are a waste of time”. Now I don’t know how much research was done on this subject, I am sure that there was a random sample distribution and critical analysis done on this subject before the findings were published. In any event the panelists went on to say that it was a problem that so many bloggers are “repurposing other content” with the mind set “oh, I just read this, let me post it on my blog”. Of course this is far off from the mentality of that “oh, I just read this, let me talk about this on my show”. Now don’t get me wrong I like the show Twit and do generally respect the opinions of the host of the show, however this particular topic was too hypocritical for me not to rant about to both of my readers. I can’t argue the fact that there is a lot of crap out there on the internet (case and point), but this was a poor place for this particular idea to be expressed.

Overall this is just a fun way to show off your materialistic side, and a good way to find people with similar interests as yourself. You get to see who owns or wants the same products as yourself and from there you can see what other movies/games/music they are into. The problem is that the network is pretty small right now but if it gets bigger this could be a great way to waste time.

Anyone who knows me knows that I am obsessed with RSS/Atom feeds. I don’t even remember what I did before I found out what they were, check websites everyday even if they weren’t updated? Those days seem like so long ago even if it was just a few months ago. Someone showed me today a new site called Netvibes which is a service that gives you the ability to create a custom web 2.0 page, much like the Google personal home pages and My Yahoo!. Where NetVibes tops these other two established services is in its ease of use, and its super clean look that is fully customizable. Besides having your feeds, the ability to search google/yahoo/MSN/Wikipedia, Gmail, weather, and a notepad; NetVibes also has a built-in podcast player so you can keep up-to-date with all your favorite shows no matter where you are. This service is ideal for anyone who travels often and doesn’t always have access to their computer. I haven’t had time to try out all of NetVibes features yet, and the only gripe that I have had so far is its lack of support for Safari, which as noted should be available soon. However this doesn’t even seem like that big of a problem for me because most of the time I am not at my computer, chances are I will be on a windows box. Everything being said, I still do this service no justice so just do yourself a favor and check this service out.

Google released its Google Blog Search today, in typical Google way its pretty simplistic. Of course in my own expected narcissistic fashion I went on ahead and goggled my own blog and….Nothing. All the journals I came across were from livejournal. In the FAQ’s of the site reasons why your blog might not be listed it says;

“If your blog publishes a site feed in any format and automatically pings an updating service (such as Weblogs.com), we should be able to find and list it. Also, we will soon be providing a form that you can use to manually add your blog to our index, in case we haven’t picked it up automatically. Stay tuned for more information on this.”

Well not really but I am really beginning to think my house is haunted. It started when the TV in my room started changing channels all by itself. I didn’t think much of it at first, I hardly even gave it a second thought; that is until the other TV’s in my house started doing the same thing. These weren’t single events either, its been happening more and more. Separate TV’s in separate rooms with separate power supplys and cable lines. Also the fan in the living room has been turning on by itself too, and although it is in the same room as one of the other TV’s its not in the same plug and nothing else in this plug has been acting up. I guess its a ghost who doesn’t like my taste in TV shows and would like to cool down. Any ideas?

This picture above is of the Barton Mansion which is a known haunted house that’s down the street from my place. There are a few odd pictures on that site of strange things found around Redlands in the Smiley Forest. In particular there is a video on that site of an “entity”. I can’t tell if it is real or not and neither did some of my friends, the one brave enough to check it out. No matter if it is fake or not it is still freaky as hell. So check it out and let me know your opinion of it.

I saw this photo on Photos and Slideshows on Yahoo! News and thought it was pretty cool. It was done by Britain’s Red Arrows aerobatic team

In case you think the heart is too lame here is another of a ying yang done by the South Korean Black Eagle military aerobatic team. You can find more Aerobatics photos from the link. However I apologize in advance if you were looking for horriable, fiery air show disasters

It is my one month anniversary of blogging! Here anyways, I don’t count those 2 years and change that I wasted on Xanga. If only I had known that there was a better way. I have been pretty consistent over the last month but there are a few things I would like to change, like the banner; I would love to actually spend the time to make a good banner and maybe sometime I will get around to that, but probably not.

I found this new service (its new to me anyways) called Feed Digest that allows you to ” Mix, convert, and syndicate RSS and Atom feeds”. So what does that mean in English? It lets you put feed headlines on your own site, and updates them automatically. There are quite a few options when it comes to customizing your feed from the format they are in to the order in which they are listed. The free version only lets you syndicate 3 sites at a time in 5 groups, but there are pay versions that let you syndicate up to 100 feeds. Its a great service either way whether you stick to the free service or decide to go premium so check it out.

Check this guy out, he’s bought his domain name (www.milliondollarhomepage.com) and he want a million dollars for college. He’s selling ad space on the site, nothing new there. However, he’s selling it off in 10x10 pixel blocks.

Yahoo! TV has the entire first episode of Supernatural available for you to watch, for free. Usually Yahoo has the first five minutes of a show available to watch, this is the first time I have seen a full show available on Yahoo TV, not to mention a week before its televised premier. This is a great idea from the network because this broadens the appeal of the show to two different audiences; those who watch television on the internet and those who watch regular television. Since the pilot of this show has been available on Bit Torrent for quite some time, they might as well make it easier for this whole audience to have access to it. This could end up helping the ratings of the fist show trough positive word-of-mouth advertising. Hopefully other networks follow this example and do similar promotions in the future, bringing us one step closer to true IPTV.
